There have been some reports about issues with the Updater not updating anymore. Please try the latest beta version and switch to another IP Check provider instead of the previous default dnsomatic.com. For some reason they are rate-limiting the number of requests to their service. The new IP Check provider selection allows you to choose another provider in such cases. You can test the functionality with the new "Test" panel.
If you want to add a custom provider to the unstable testing version, store a JSON file like the following under %PROGRAMDATA%\Marcs Updater\ServiceProviders\dyndns.json
:
{ "name": "DynDNS.org (Test)", "endpoint": "https://members.dyndns.org/nic/update", "method": "GET", "queryString": "hostname={HOSTNAME}&myip={MYIP}", "dataPayload": "", "defaults": { "username": "test", "password": "test", "hostname": "test1.customtest.dyndns.org" } }
Supported query and payload tags are {USERNAME}
, {PASSWORD}
, {HOSTNAME}
and {MYIP}
. Restart the background service and foreground application to apply any changes.

windows 7 64bits support .... check.
Run as service ................... check.
no frills configuration ........... check.
smallest resource usage ..... check.
dns-o-matic support ............ check.
score 10/10!
tried almost every dns updater around, this is the best one for sure.
congrats for a job very well done.
therefore i use dns-o-matic to update a bunch of services, (afraid.org, dyndns. no-ip), it would be nice to see if your updater support more services.

Wow, a DNS updater that works. Brilliant. Do you have a donate button anywhere?

Marc,
Would it be possible to get a list of possile switches for your program? I'm attempting to a large scale deployment of your program and could use some assistance.
I might be willing ot pay for your time!

I updated to 229 build a week ago, but it's not sending my ip to opendns. Should I completely remove all, and then reinstall the new version ?

I look in opendns "top domains" but never see any entries for myip.opendns.com. Marc's updater runs on a windows 2008 server as a service with all account logged off (it's at ctrl-alt-del screen). How does the update work? Does it send updates every 5 minute or check locally every 5 minutes and only update opendns when it detects a change to the ip.
Thank you in advance.

Great job on this. It would be great if you partnered with OpenDNS to provide the functionality to run the OpenDNS client as a service.
