There have been some reports about issues with the Updater not updating anymore. Please try the latest beta version and switch to another IP Check provider instead of the previous default dnsomatic.com. For some reason they are rate-limiting the number of requests to their service. The new IP Check provider selection allows you to choose another provider in such cases. You can test the functionality with the new "Test" panel.
If you want to add a custom provider to the unstable testing version, store a JSON file like the following under %PROGRAMDATA%\Marcs Updater\ServiceProviders\dyndns.json
:
{ "name": "DynDNS.org (Test)", "endpoint": "https://members.dyndns.org/nic/update", "method": "GET", "queryString": "hostname={HOSTNAME}&myip={MYIP}", "dataPayload": "", "defaults": { "username": "test", "password": "test", "hostname": "test1.customtest.dyndns.org" } }
Supported query and payload tags are {USERNAME}
, {PASSWORD}
, {HOSTNAME}
and {MYIP}
. Restart the background service and foreground application to apply any changes.

I would like to know which distribution method you would prefer for the next version of the client.

I just want to say that it would be cool if we (i.e. users of Marcs Updater) would be informed somewhere when new version (even if it's only a minor update to the program, like for example the latest one from version 1.5.0.203 to version 1.5.0.204; I don't know if Marcs Updater's in-built update through "Check Version" menu item recognizes this as new version being available/released) is out.
I don't know what others might prefer, but IMO maybe the best place would be a sticky thread on this message board. At least this is my suggestion, if anyone thinks there's a better way, please comment and say what do you think about it.

I was a bit bored today and so I went checking running processes (their files/executables) with PsService (it's a "Task Manager on steroids") program's Verify command and so I noticed that "Marcs Updater.exe" and "unins000.exe" (the only two .exes in Marcs Updater's installation folder) files are actually digitally signed!!
And therefore I just want to say: "Wow, well done Marc!!", because you see, I always thought that this (signing the executables) is done only by big/rich software companies, but I guess now that it isn't so.
Thanks again for this great program!!
Greetings, Tadej
