There have been some reports about issues with the Updater not updating anymore. Please try the latest beta version and switch to another IP Check provider instead of the previous default dnsomatic.com. For some reason they are rate-limiting the number of requests to their service. The new IP Check provider selection allows you to choose another provider in such cases. You can test the functionality with the new "Test" panel.
If you want to add a custom provider to the unstable testing version, store a JSON file like the following under %PROGRAMDATA%\Marcs Updater\ServiceProviders\dyndns.json
:
{ "name": "DynDNS.org (Test)", "endpoint": "https://members.dyndns.org/nic/update", "method": "GET", "queryString": "hostname={HOSTNAME}&myip={MYIP}", "dataPayload": "", "defaults": { "username": "test", "password": "test", "hostname": "test1.customtest.dyndns.org" } }
Supported query and payload tags are {USERNAME}
, {PASSWORD}
, {HOSTNAME}
and {MYIP}
. Restart the background service and foreground application to apply any changes.

Hi,
I have one static IP and another dynamic IP going to same computer (both are in same network on a dual wan router).
I would like to update OpenDNS when dynamic IP changed from same computer. My question is, how can I bind Updater to just dynamic IP alone?

You first see what IP address updates.opendns.com resolves to for you:
nslookup updates.opendns.com.
For me this is 67.215.92.210, but it may be different for you.
Then you configure a persistent route on your Dual WAN router, where you route this destination IP address and also your whole dynamic IP address range (because of the queries to myip.opendns.com) out through the gateway with the dynamic IP address only.
I hope this makes sense for you.

Thanks! I know exactly what you are suggesting. I have 2 network card on the computer installed updater and one card card dedicated to updater and I wondering if i could bind a port using IP Filter on the NIC. Does updater use any specific port? Thanks again.

No, you cannot bind ports using IP filtering on the NIC, you can just block ports.
Yes, the updater uses specific ports, of course, at least 53 and 443, maybe also 80, in case of OpenDNS. But ports are irrelevant here.
You configure persistent routes with the "route" command from the command line.
Execute "route print" to see your current routes. This is all based on IP addressing only.
You may need to configure such a persistent route on the router, only or in addition. depending how you have configured your Dual WAN connection.
